At Audiology Center of Maine, we offer several purchase options for hearing aids:
- Fee for Service. All care beyond the 60 day trial is fee for service.
- AuDSurance Extended Care. This is strictly a service plan. “Extended Care” is offered for 12 months. It is available to anyone and can be added to any plan at any time.
- AuDSurance Classic. This is a “Treatment Plan” that includes hearing aids, extended care for the hearing aids, and audiological care. Patients receive 3 years of comprehensive care. There is a single payment.
- AuDSurance Flex. This is a “Treatment Plan” that includes the use of hearing aids, extended care for the hearing aids, and audiological care. Care is included for 3 years. Patients make a monthly payment for the use of the hearing aids and all care. Patients do not own the hearing aids, but do have the option to purchase them or exchange for new aids every three years.
What is AuDSurance? In brief, AuDSurance is a Program that has three different Plans.
The AuDSurance Program is designed with an emphasis on comprehensive hearing healthcare, including: Hearing Assessment, Risk Management, Preventative Care, and Treatment – which includes the purchase and maintenance of hearing aids.
Insurance plans generally cover diagnostic hearing evaluations, but most hearing aid related services are paid out of pocket by the patient. Typical hearing aid wearers require two to three visits per year for routine hearing aid care. Fees typically range between $50 and $380 per visit. Plans allow members to better budget their hearing healthcare finances, without worrying about extra costs. Most patients save money with a plan.
The benefits of AuDSurance are the same across all three plans. The difference depends on whether or not patients already have hearing aids. If they already have hearing aids, then the AuDSurance Extended Care Plan is appropriate. If they do not yet have hearing aids, then they are candidates for either the AuDSurance Classic Plan or the AuDSurance Flex Plan.
AuDSurance Extended Care
This plan was created to benefit patients who already have hearing aids and need follow-up care for the year. The AuDSurance Extended Care Plan allows patients to receive complete hearing aid care at an affordable price. AuDSurance Extended Care covers routine hearing aid care, basic audiometric testing related to reprogramming of your hearing aids, and special pricing on certain hearing aid products and accessories. It also covers zinc air batteries, cleaning products, waxguards, and dry aid kits to help you maintain the functionality your hearing aids. This plan is offered for 12 months. It can be added at any time.
AuDSurance Classic
This treatment plan is designed for patients who presently do not have hearing aids and prefer a simple one time payment. AuDSurance Classic includes a three year service plan for the following offerings: routine hearing aid care, basic audiometric testing related to reprogramming of your hearing aids, and special pricing on certain hearing aid products and accessories. It also covers zinc air batteries, cleaning products, waxguards, and dry aid kits to help you maintain the functionality your hearing aids during the three year period.
AuDSurance Flex
This treatment plan is designed for patients who presently do not have hearing aids, and who are interested in a fixed low monthly payment plan. This plan makes it easier to afford hearing aids and the associated hearing care. With the Flex plan, you can lease your hearing aids for a three year agreement, and you become eligible for technology upgrades at the end of the term agreement. (This option is subject to credit check approval.) Under the AuDSurance Flex treatment plan, patients do not own the hearing aids, but they do have the option to purchase them or exchange them for new hearing aids, every three years. AuDSurance Flex also includes routine hearing aid care, basic audiometric testing related to reprogramming of your hearing aids, and special pricing on certain hearing aid products and accessories. It also covers zinc air batteries, cleaning products, waxguards, and dry aid kits to help you maintain the functionality your hearing aids. All of these benefits are included during the term of the lease.
